F&P AI is how a family restaurant group with more than four decades in franchising is putting artificial intelligence to work. Here we share what we built, how it works, and what it gives back to our people.
Real restaurants, real data, explained in plain English.
A business is a body. Crews clock in, registers ring, deposits land, trucks unload, and meetings decide things. Capture all of it, give it a nervous system, and you get a business you can talk to.
We didn't wait for someone to sell us AI. We decided to learn the tools ourselves, and we started small on purpose.
We sat down with our leaders, department by department, from accounting to HR to operations, mapped their work, and put AI into their day.
The tool mattered less than the confidence. Once people stopped fearing the work, the whole business started moving faster.
Then we took operations apart, piece by piece, and rebuilt them with intelligence as the infrastructure.
Every win created data. We gave that data one home, and a brain that can make sense of it.
None of this replaced anyone. It removed the parts of the day that never needed a person in the first place.
Each morning, yesterday's sales are checked against accounting, to the penny, in every restaurant. Cash overs and shorts are flagged the same day, missing deposits get called out, and delivery-app payouts are reconciled against every fee.
Moving money between banking partners used to mean hours of math and spreadsheets. Now our accounting team creates transfer files that go securely to our bank in one click, and gets back more than six hours a week.
A nationwide drive-thru speed contest came with no way to track it, so we built a live leaderboard in two hours. When the contest ended, one of our restaurants had the fastest drive-thru in America.
Behind those wins are a few layers working together. None of them is magic. Here is what each one does, in plain terms.
A single view of the operation: banking, daily sales audits, deposits, card and delivery reconciliation, labor, waste, food supply, and even weather tied to sales. Every one of our restaurants lives on it.
A private system on our own hardware that has taken in more than 230 million lines of our data: sales, labor, traffic, weather, and the transcripts of our recorded meetings. Nearly everything the business knows, in one place.
A quiet fleet of AI agents handles the standing jobs: pulling reports, preparing the morning audits, and watching for anything that breaks overnight.
When a meeting is recorded, the system spots the moments where we said we should build or research something, drafts a plan of action, and waits for a person to approve it.
Because the Brain holds the whole body of the business, our team can ask it questions out loud, in plain English, and get answers grounded in our own numbers. A few of the questions it answers:
We measure AI by what it hands back to our people, not by how impressive the technology looks.
We are named Food & People, and we mean it. Nothing we build is pointed at a person's job. Everything is pointed at making our people more capable and giving them back time.
Agents draft, flag, and prepare. A person approves before anything becomes real.
The Brain runs on our own hardware, so the knowledge of our business stays ours.
This is real money and real livelihoods. We invest in security audits, self-repair when something goes down, and hardening against failures before they happen.
Tell us about your business and where you are with AI. We read every response and learn from all of them.
If a conversation makes sense, we will reach out. In the meantime, read the full story or follow along on YouTube.
